How Can I Get a Job Writing In The Television Industry?

Im wondering what kind of education and whatever else I would require to become a script writer for television shows like The O.C.

Typically you take an online sitcom or dramatic television writing course that last about 8-10 weeks. You develop a sample script during this time, but realistically it is unlikely that you can develop a good tv script in that amount of time on your own.

So at the end of the course, whic might cost $400 or so, you have the opportunity to sign up with your instructor to continue working on the script. This will cost you even more money, but there is no real alternative. If you have talent, then eventually you will bang out a sample script and your instructor will help you get it circulated and that may lead to an offer to join a writing team.

That's the way it works unless you have an inside connection. You have to have real writing ability, and you have to be willing to kiss your instructor's ***, some more than others, to develop a spec script that you can mail out to various writing staffs.
