What kind of adapter do I need to use to connect my macbook to my television?

As the title states, what kind of adapter do I need to use to connect my macbook to my television to get the best resolution?

Depends on what inputs your tv has. Newer tvs have DVI inputs while older ones will have s-video. If you could let me know model TV you have Ill give you a better answer :)

You will need a VGA to VGA cable.

I use my 42" TV with my laptop using a VGA to VGA cable.
