How can my brother get a television writing gig?

My brother will be graduating next semester with a Bachelor of Art in English. He wants to write for a television series, or something. The problem is he's always lived in rural area, and doesn't know too much about New York or California, or the television writing business. How does he land a job as a television writer, so I can get him the hell out of my house?

(Serious Question)

There are workshops on writing to attend in New York City. Send him to some of those which focus on screen writing. Likely there are some in California too.

Meanwhile, he should go to Amazon.com and look at all the screen writing books they have there or check them out at the library.

Chances of landing a job as a screen writer right out of college without any experience or even knowledge of that industry and slim so he needs to do his home work. Might even want to go get a Masters elsewhere too, like USC (I assuming they have screen writing there).

As for now, tell him he needs to get a place of his own.
