How different is the real CSI compared to the television shows?

I've heard that it's quite different, which makes complete sense. Crimes aren't solved that quickly but they have to be for a television show. What are the other big differences? What parts of the shows actually ring true?

It takes much longer to analyze DNA in real life than on the TV shows. It could take weeks instead of hours. Also, on CSI Miami the criminals usually do not ask for lawyers when they are questioned, and they always confess. That does not happen in real life.

There is not always evidence found at the crime that convicts the criminals. It sometime is just witnesses or associates of the criminal that provide the evidence.

very.

CSI is a show produced for entertainment value where the answers are always found within a one hour timeframe.

the real CSI is a shwo about real crimes and they focus on the forensic science aspect of solving the case. it can take months to solve a case and in a way its hsowing the real truths of forensic science.

for example, getting the results for tests sent to the lab take days not half and hour.

Of course there must be some differences between the real world and the tv shows.Coz there is always some high class secrets that would not let normal people to know. And the tv show must display the positive sides of the CSI,isn't it?

from what i understand some of the shows are old cases.. with some changes..

also it does take weeks sometime months to years to solve cases..

they try to make everything as realistic as possible..
