1) If show is written to the consumer in mind, then it takes people "through emotions of conflict resolution" or whatever. which in turn is almost like giving them an experience that the can build on in their actual lives.

2) The financial sponsors and the consumer wants

3) no clue. maybe because they are at work all day and it is nice to relax in front of tv

Some people are affected by television in the way that they begin to think that the television show is a real life phenomenon.
