What are some alternative methods for degaussing my television set?

My tv was subjected to some powerful magnets by a not-so-smart friend of mine. The color is all messed up. It seems to lack a degaussing coil, and i don't want to have to buy one. Can i maby make a degaussing coil? I'm decent with electronics and have a crt computer monitor to scrap with built in degaussing... What are some alternative methods for degaussing my television set?

You might try googling "how to make a degaussing coil"

There are some cheap ones on e-bay too:

If you have an old Weller soldering gun it may work.

Turn on and rotate the gun around the picture tube from the outside in.

Pull straight back several feet before turning off.
