I think the first question you need to ask yourself is âœwhat area of journalism am I interested in?â Is it science? Or economics? Or the arts? Or politics? Or current affairs? And so on. Where do your passions lie? Based on that answer, Iâ™d first of all complete a qualification in that area. For example, you might want to do a science degree, an economics degree, a law degree, etc. After that, Iâ™d do a one-year postgraduate course in journalism. Whereas the journalism course will teach you about âœstyleâ, your main qualification will teach you about âœsubstanceâ. Both are important.
It is likely that a double major in Journalism and Speech and drama would be helpful. It would also help to consider a minor in business or political science.
These (some mandatory) would all be helpful in the performance of your duties, as well as, the sometimes precarious maneuvering of the field (and those in it).
research both, and talk with some local news journalists.can make better decision then.
Political Science and History is a must.
politcal science is good but also liberal arts.
Hi. i am a broadcast major graduate. id say ig you really want to be a future broadcast journalist , try to get a degree in either communication arts or to be more specific broadcast communication or brodcast journalism.
Political Science is actually a pre law course. That is if you have future aspirations to run for public office.
