How can I fix the tuner on my television?

One of my roommates accidently walked into my cable wire connected to my Panasonic television and it yanked it out of the TV. I opened up the television and it appears that part of tuner box, I believe that is what it is, has been pulled out and damaged. I am wondering if it is possible for me to fix this. If not, any ideas on how much it might cost?

To a practising TV tech this repair is run of the mill ! It needs a steady hand and a small soldering iron and a bit of practise, its best to remove the tuner from the TV first then the side covers come off easily to give access to the circuit board . I have done quite a lot of these. Best let a Tv tech do it though , no great cost involved , replacement tuners are cheap ! recond about $12 in Australia at least !!. Best of luck , hope this helps .

The tuner needs to be replaced. It's very difficult. How many years of electronic repair do you have under your belt? I have 25, and it's still difficult.

I have run across this before. Normally, it is not the tuner that is damaged, but the female cable connector has been pulled away from the tuner assembly. If the part is just the round part the cable plugs or screws into, the part can be found at any RadioShack and soldered back in place. In any event, if this is the case, the repair cost is normally not that much.

The tuner can be repaired by someone who knows what they are doing. In chicago email Rescap1@sbcglobal.net
