How can i watch something that appears on my monitor on my television?

I would like to watch what is on my monitor on my television. The only problem is that i dont know what hardware i need, nor do i know what software i need. "Best Answer" goes to anyone that can tell me where i can get the software (preferably for free) and what hardware i need.

if you do not have a composite video out jacks on the back of your graphics card, you will need a converter box. This box will go between your graphics card out to the box and back to the monitor. the box will also have a separate connections to your tv. No software other than drivers is necessary , which may come with the converter box. you can get this box at newegg.com. Or you can get a new graphics card with s-video out connection. the sound would then come from your sound c ard to the tv audio in jacks.

You can get an adaptor, pretty cheap.
