The keys to making a 480i TV look it's best are:
1. Go into the menu system and tweak the picture settings.
2. Feed the TV the cleanest signal you can.
For example, if you are using it with an antenna, make sure you are watching digital signals. If the TV doesn't have digital tuner, sign up for your $40 off government coupon on 1/1/08 so you can buy a converter box in Feb.
If you are getting satellite or cable TV, use the type of connection that gives you the best signal. If you add a note with what kind of inputs your TV has and how you are getting your TV signals, we could probably tell you what's best for you.
Best - HDMI
Pretty good - component
OK - s-video
Widely used - composite
lowest quality - RF analog coax
If you are getting analog cable service, directly connecting your TV to the cable jack with coax is usually best. RF coax is only worst if you are getting the signal from a satellite or cable box. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20071230011635AAmm5r2&kid=NbJkCDr_OUNMxJ9P2E66&s=comm&date=2008-01-01+15%3A06%3A32&.crumb=
Nope it will always look bad........ Id say brake it and return it then pay the difference for a 720p/1080i or a 1080p
Don't break it...just return it to the store within 15 days of purchase and they'll let you upgrade to what you want....
