What causes a glowing effect on the screen of a rear-projecting television?

First off, the television is a 42" Magnavox rear-projection television. When watching the television, everything on screen seems to have a glowing light around it. It's rather annoying. I want to know what causes it and if there's a way that I can put a stop to it. And I've tried adjusting the color, contrast, picture, brightness, sharpness, and all that and it still does it.

That's a simple problem...looks like everything has a glowing halo around it...particularly blue and/or green halo......

Your coolant is crystallized and needs cleaned out and replaced.....

You can't stop it without replacing the coolant, realigning the picture tubes you remove and electrically readjusting the convergence.....and there's MORE.

Since your TV has some age to it, if you don't reinstall the picture tubes EXACTLY where they were on the coolant chamber you end up with a brighter strip at the top/bottom of the picture, and believe me THAT is annoying to watch.....That's why I mark EXACTLY where those were positioned before removing the CRT....

Trust me, you want to invest in a TV Tech to do this work, and I'll guarantee you those picture tubes will look factory fresh when he's done.....

Since the image is projected I'd guess it was the focus. It's probably an internal adjustment that has to be made by a trained tech - some components inside TVs can deliver a killing shock.

try the auto focus thing on it...thats what i did with my 55" sony grand wega rp tv and it worked....also it might be the signal coming into the tv
