You can do it only if your TV has a video output. If not, it can't be done.
You need to split the video BEFORE it reaches the TV to send it to projector. This means the output of your cable box, DVD player, etc.
Or get a second cable box ($7/month) to feed the projector or buy a HDTV tuner and an antenna to feed the projector, etc.
To use a single source:
You need to buy a A/B video switch but run it backwards to send video to either the TV or the projector, or buy a distribution amp (like they use in TV stores) to amplify the video to send it to multiple televisions.
and most TVs don't have that.
